My name is Saifeddin Rami Kamal Alnahal, and I am a medical student from Gaza. I have always dreamed of becoming a doctor, because I want to care for people and be useful to my community. My interest in medicine comes from understanding how important accessible healthcare is to individuals and families.
I believe that being a good physician requires more than medical knowledge. It also requires the ability to listen, understand patients, and treat every person with respect and kindness. One experience that meant a lot to me was volunteering at a local clinic. During my time there, I assisted with first aid, provided basic care within my abilities, and offered reassurance to patients.
Although my responsibilities were limited, the experience taught me how even small acts of care can make a difference. It also gave me a closer understanding of the responsibility that comes with working in healthcare and strengthened my motivation to continue studying medicine. This is the kind of doctor I want to become: someone who knows how to treat patients and also takes the time to listen to them.
During electricity cuts, I sometimes had to study by candlelight, but I did my best to keep up with my education. Continuing my university education is an important step toward achieving this goal. However, my family's financial circumstances have made covering my tuition fees increasingly difficult. I have tried to find work to help pay for my education, but opportunities have been limited.
Support through ASAI's LIFT program would help me continue my medical education, develop my skills, and focus on preparing for my future profession. My dream is to become a qualified doctor who provides compassionate care, supports families, and contributes to a healthier future for my community. I am committed to continuing this journey, learning, growing, and preparing myself to help the people who need me.
