My name is Hadil Mohammed Ali Younis, and I am a dentistry student from Gaza. I have always believed that dentistry is not only about treating teeth. It is about restoring confidence, relieving pain, and helping people feel comfortable smiling again. My passion for dentistry began with a personal experience involving my mother. After years of caring for our family, she began experiencing serious dental problems that affected not only her health but also her confidence.
Watching her experience made me realize how much dental problems can affect someone's daily life and confidence. It inspired me to pursue dentistry and help other people who are going through similar experiences. When my education was disrupted, I had to rely more on studying on my own and using online resources to keep up with my education, and graduated from secondary school with an average of 96.4%.
I also wanted to use what I was learning to help others. I organized two oral-health awareness campaigns near Al-Aqsa University, reaching 40 families with educational guidance and basic dental hygiene supplies. I also designed the awareness materials myself. Taking part in these campaigns made me even more interested in promoting oral health, particularly among children, older adults, and families with limited access to dental care.
I want to keep learning and improving my skills. However, our family lost its main source of income when our perfume shop was destroyed. With several members of my family pursuing higher education, covering university tuition has become increasingly difficult. Through ASAI's LIFT program, I hope to receive the support I need to continue my studies and move closer to becoming a qualified dentist.
My dream is to help people regain their smiles and confidence while making dental care more accessible to those who need it most. I hope to use what I learn to help people in my community throughout my career. One day, I would love to meet the people who supported my education, thank them personally, and share my graduation with them.
