My name is Ruba, and I am a Palestinian medical student from Gaza who is interested in healthcare, research, and helping my community. I have always dreamed of becoming a physician who uses her medical knowledge to care for patients and help people who struggle to access healthcare. I have successfully completed three years of medical school, maintaining a cumulative GPA above 90%.

Alongside my studies, I have looked for opportunities to learn more about the health needs of the people I hope to serve. My interest in medicine extends beyond university lectures. I have participated in volunteering and health education initiatives, contributed to research exploring access to healthcare in challenging settings, and taken part in field activities screening women and children for malnutrition.

These experiences have shown me why access to healthcare matters so much and strengthened my interest in addressing health challenges through both medical practice and research. I have also developed a strong sense of responsibility through supporting my elderly parents with their healthcare needs. Helping manage their medical records, arrange appointments, and accompany them to treatment has taught me to be patient and pay attention to what people need.

After leaving Gaza and moving to Egypt with my family, I have worked to continue my medical education while getting used to a new place and a different daily routine. I remain enrolled at university, but I have been unable to pay my tuition. I worry that these financial difficulties could interrupt the progress I have worked so hard to make. Support through ASAI's LIFT program would help me continue my studies and dedicate more time to developing my medical knowledge and practical skills.

My goal is to become a qualified physician who contributes to improving healthcare services, particularly for women, children, and communities with limited access to medical care. I believe that medicine is not only about treating illnesses, but also about understanding people and working toward a healthier future for everyone.
