Toqa Abed

My name Toqa Abed and I'm a 22-year-old medical student at Al-Quds University in Jerusalem, facing significant financial challenges while pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor. Growing up in Jenin, Palestine, with a family of nine, her father, a farmer, is the sole breadwinner, struggling to cover basic expenses, while her 10-year-old brother requires costly medical care. I'm seeing to raise $4,110 to help cover for my tuition and books, allowing me to focus on my education and one day provide medical care to her community in Jenin.

My Story:

The journey of pursuing higher education is often challenging and requires a lot of determination and hard work. For me, Toqa Abed, a 22-year-old medical student at Al-Quds University in Jerusalem, the path to becoming a doctor is filled with significant financial difficulties. My story shows the strength and perseverance needed to overcome these challenges, and I sincerely hope that the support from Arab Student Aid International (ASAI) can make a big difference in my journey.

Growing up in Jenin, Palestine, I have always aspired to contribute to my community through the field of medicine. The decision to study at Al-Quds University, renowned for its academic excellence, was driven by my desire to gain the best education possible. However, the financial burden associated with this pursuit is overwhelming. The costs of tuition, books, transportation, and living expenses in Jerusalem are substantial, and they have placed an immense strain on my family's already limited resources.

My family consists of nine members, and we rely solely on my father's income. My father is a farmer, working tirelessly on rented land to provide for us. His job is physically demanding and yields meager financial returns, barely enough to cover our basic needs. Compounding our difficulties, my 10-year-old brother suffers from Hemophilia, a severe blood disorder that requires constant medical attention and incurs additional costs. The rest of my siblings are young and unable to contribute to the family income, leaving my father as the sole breadwinner.

The recent conflict in Palestine has further exacerbated our financial woes. The instability and uncertainty have not only affected our economic situation but also heightened the emotional and psychological stress on our family. Despite these challenges, I remain steadfast in my commitment to pursue my medical education and make a positive impact on my community.

The support of Arab Student Aid International is crucial to my academic journey. ASAI's mission to assist students in need aligns perfectly with my circumstances. The financial assistance provided by ASAI would alleviate the burden on my family and allow me to focus entirely on my studies. It would also bring a sense of relief and hope, knowing that there are people and organizations willing to invest in my future.

Being featured on ASAI's crowdfunding platform offers a unique opportunity to share my story with potential donors. Their contributions would not only support my education but also empower me to achieve my dream of becoming a doctor. With their help, I can complete my studies and return to Jenin to provide much-needed medical care to my community. The knowledge and skills I acquire will enable me to address the healthcare needs of underserved populations, contributing to a healthier and more resilient society.

In conclusion, the financial support from Arab Student Aid International would have a transformative impact on my life and my family's future. It would enable me to overcome the financial obstacles that currently hinder my education and allow me to pursue my passion for medicine with renewed vigor. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to share my story and for the consideration of my request. Together, with the support of ASAI and generous donors, I can achieve my dreams and make a meaningful difference in my community.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

Warm regards,

Toqa Abed
