Reem Ahmed Abdelhadi

My name is Reem Abdalhadi. I live in Deir Elbalah City in Gaza. Since the start of the war on Gaza and I have been facing significant challenges at different levels. The most profound personal level is when I lost my father 2 months ago due to the closure of the border that prohibited my father from getting his treatment outside Gaza. This tragedy has undoubtedly added an emotional burden on me.

Furthermore, the ongoing conflict or war on Gaza is causing massive destruction and damage to infrastructure, educational institutions, hospitals, healthcare centers, banks and others. This has created a severe financial crisis, with salaries being denied or significantly delayed.

In addition to financial difficulties, the frequent lack of water and the electricity outages increased the level of suffering for all Gazans. This outage has made my connection with the world impossible. For example, it is my dream to further my graduate studies at one of the universities overseas, so I have been trying to communicate with different universities, but it is very hard and sometimes impossible. Recently, I got accepted to one of UK universities but due to the travel closure and financial shortage, I could not travel. Alternatively, I tried to do virtual study or learning but didn’t work due to the continuous bombs sounds around my home, the power outages, and the limited access to educational references.

For my professional experiences, I have about 24 years of experience in health and nutrition fields. At hospitals and health centers. Additionally, I have undergone various training programs and participated in numerous conferences and workshops related to nutrition and health science. All such experiences have made me proud of myself because it helps a big number of my community to be healthy.

Also, my loyalty to assist my community and expand my experience to meet the current difficult health situation in Gaza motivated me to apply for a graduate program, so your generous support to achieve my dream and develop the health system in Gaza will be remarkable. And appreciated by Gazans.
