Rama Emad Abdel Rahman Daraghmeh

I grew up in an environment that values education, believing that knowledge is a guiding light that illuminates all places. Despite the economic challenges we face, I have committed myself to the path of scholars and intellectuals, recognizing that education is not just a means for personal success but also a powerful force for uplifting my community and country. Coming from a region with limited opportunities for educational support, I was driven as a student to work hard and strive to achieve my dream of making a positive change despite the obstacles.
I enrolled at Arab American University, majoring in nursing—a decision that was not easy due to the high tuition fees for my program. This created mixed emotions for my father: joy in seeing his daughter enter university and concern about how he would afford my education. However, with God’s grace, my determination, and my parents' support, I was able to overcome the initial financial challenges. Still, the financial burden remains my biggest concern throughout my university journey.
Despite these difficulties, I decided to take advantage of every opportunity to enhance my academic and personal skills. I actively participate in student-led initiatives that serve the local community, such as providing educational support to underprivileged children. I have also joined a free training course, The First Responder, to develop emergency medical skills. Additionally, I took on a part-time job during my studies to help ease my family’s financial burden. However, I soon realized that balancing work and studies is incredibly challenging.
My participation in this fundraising campaign stems from my deep belief that donors' contributions do more than just support individual students—they help build an educated society and a better future. The donations I receive from this campaign will directly assist me in covering my tuition fees, books, and transportation costs. This support will not only bring me immense joy and relief but also allow me to focus more on my studies instead of constantly worrying about financial obstacles.
After graduating, I aspire to work in the nursing field and contribute positively to my community. I firmly believe that education is the foundation of change, and a person is measured by their knowledge, wisdom, and culture. As the saying goes, "Education builds houses that have no foundation, while ignorance destroys houses of glory and honor." I am determined to use the knowledge I acquire to develop innovative solutions for the challenges my community faces. Additionally, I hope to support other students who, like me, struggle with financial difficulties. One day, I aim to give back and be a source of inspiration for those who wish to pursue their dreams against all odds.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributes to supporting students in need, like me. Your support is not just financial assistance; it is an investment in our dreams and aspirations—dreams that might not be possible without your generosity. I am deeply grateful to everyone who believes in education as a tool for change, and I look forward to becoming someone who makes a meaningful impact in the future. Perhaps one day, I will be among those who give back, just as you have.
Thank you for taking the time to read my words and for understanding the depth of my gratitude. You are a source of pride for the Arab world.
