Raha Khalid Al-Hassanat

I am a university student of English Literature, specializing in translation. My journey, however, has been shaped by profound personal loss and unimaginable challenges in the Gaza Strip. At the age of twenty-one, I tragically became a widow, my beloved husband martyred at the onset of the recent conflict.

The initial period was marked by immense psychological distress; I endured a siege in the northern region, specifically within the Indonesian Hospital, from which I miraculously escaped. This period left me in a profound state where, for a time, I was unable to speak. Yet, through divine grace and the steadfast support of my family, I gradually regained my strength, resolute in my commitment to complete my studies.

The pursuit of higher education in these circumstances has been exceptionally arduous. We have faced continuous displacement, moving from one area to another with limited access to essential academic resources and financial support. Despite these formidable obstacles, my determination to complete my educational journey has never wavered. I have navigated streets seeking internet access, studying on the ground in public spaces to prepare for my examinations. The attached images offer a glimpse into these challenging realities and my unwavering dedication.

My passion for English Literature and translation is deeply rooted. I aspire not only to work professionally in this field but also to leverage my education as a pathway to independence and empowerment. It is a vital step toward shaping my future and fostering a meaningful role in society, particularly as a widowed woman.

I am reaching out today with a heartfelt appeal. Your support, in any form of donation, would be instrumental in enabling me to complete my academic journey in the Gaza Strip. Your contribution can provide the critical assistance needed to overcome these persistent barriers and achieve my educational and professional aspirations.

Thank you for considering my appeal.

Sincerely,

Raha Khalid Al Hassanat
