Hussein Ali Hussein Abu Ghalioun

My name is Hussein Ali Abu Ghalioun, a passionate and determined computer systems engineering student living in Gaza. Choosing this field wasn’t just a decision based on interest, but rather a deep desire to become a problem-solver for my community. Ever since I was young, I was fascinated by how technology connects people and shapes the world. In a place like Gaza, where access to resources and opportunities is limited, I realized that technology could be the key to creating change—not just for me, but for everyone around me. That’s why I chose computer systems engineering: to build solutions, empower others, and open doors for a better future.
The journey, however, hasn’t been easy. Living in Gaza comes with daily challenges that most students around the world never face. From frequent electricity outages and unstable internet connections to political instability and limited educational resources, every day is a battle to stay focused and hopeful. There have been times when I had to study under candlelight or wait hours for the internet to return just to submit an assignment. Despite all these obstacles, I’ve remained committed to my education because I believe in its power to transform my life.

Financial hardship is one of the biggest barriers I face. My family, like many others here, struggles to cover basic living expenses, let alone the costs of higher education—tuition fees, textbooks, a reliable laptop, or transportation. This is where donors' support can make an incredible difference. Receiving financial assistance would allow me to focus fully on my studies, participate in learning opportunities like online courses or internships, and develop the skills I need to contribute meaningfully to my field. It would lift a heavy burden from my family and give me the confidence to dream bigger and reach higher.
One moment that deeply motivates me happened during a high school competition. I participated in a local technology challenge where we had to build a small automated system using basic components. Despite lacking proper tools, I worked tirelessly with a borrowed microcontroller and some recycled materials. My team won second place. That experience showed me that talent and determination could shine even in the toughest situations. It also made me realize that with the right support, I could do even more.
Today, I hold on to that memory whenever I feel overwhelmed. I remind myself that education is not just about grades—it’s about growth, resilience, and the impact I can make in the future. With the help of donors, I can continue this journey, complete my degree, and one day become a professional who not only solves complex systems problems but also gives back to the community that raised me.
Your support is not just an investment in my education—it’s an investment in a young person’s dream to rise above the odds and build a better world through technology. Thank you for believing in students like me.
