Nesma Y.A. Algherbawi

My name is Nesma Yousef Algherbawi, a 20-year-old clinical pharmacy student from Gaza, Palestine, currently displaced in Egypt due to the war. Despite achieving a 95.39% cumulative grade and excelling as the top student in my first year at Al-Azhar University, the destruction of my university and financial hardships now threatens my dream of becoming a pharmacist and serving my community. I am seeking your support to continue my education and rebuild hope for a brighter future—your generosity can make this possible.

My Story:

With sincere greetings and deep appreciation for your role in fostering education, I am Nesma Yousef Algherbawi from Gaza, Palestine. Graduating from Ahmed Shawqi Secondary School in 2022, I pursued the scientific stream, achieving an average of 88.6% in the Gaza Strip. Continuing my academic journey, I enrolled at Al-Azhar University, Gaza, in the Faculty of Pharmacy for the academic year 2022-2023.

Despite the challenges, I successfully completed my first year with distinction, attaining a cumulative rate of 95% through dedicated study hours and securing the top position in my specialization. Driven by my passion for learning, I also undertook summer semester studies, investing an additional 3 hours daily to enhance my cumulative grades to 95.39%.

My aspiration to contribute to academia led me to strive for a Teaching Assistant position at my university, a dream nurtured since childhood. Immersed in my major, I found fulfillment in exploring its courses, laboratories, and methodologies. Additionally, my proficiency in English, validated by a Cambridge Advanced English certification, has been instrumental in my academic pursuits.

Anticipating the enriching opportunities of my second year, my enthusiasm was abruptly disrupted by the outbreak of war, resulting in the destruction of educational institutions, including my university, by the Israeli occupation. Forced to abandon our home due to escalating danger, my family and I sought refuge in various locations within Gaza, enduring harrowing experiences until relocating to Dir Albalah area amidst intense airstrikes.

Reflecting on the devastation wrought upon our lives and cherished memories, including my educational materials meticulously gathered over the years, I am now displaced in the Arab Republic of Egypt. However, financial constraints prohibit me from continuing my pharmacy studies in Egyptian universities, compounded by the absence of any stable income source.

In this plea, I humbly seek your assistance in realizing my educational aspirations, enabling me to become a proficient pharmacist and contribute meaningfully to my community and country. Your support is not only an investment in my future but also a beacon of hope amidst adversity. Thank you for your consideration and understanding.

Warm regards,

Nesma Yousef Algherbawi
