Mohammed Alsaeed Rihyadh

As a graduate student, the challenges I encountered as an undergraduate student are not always very far. I still have to work smart and budget adequately to access the necessities of life such as food and housing. As a result, donations made towards students like me enhance my overall quality of life if I use the money to purchase food and access better housing. Using donation funding to access well balanced diets and handle housing issues reduces stress and helps with my overall performance.  I study better on a full stomach and not stressing about where my next meal will come from. I would use donations to acquire housing in an area that meets my needs such as security when I am studying late. Housing that improves access to a library and my lecture halls also reduces my transportation needs.

Secondly, I would use donations to support my research programs. Research is often costly, especially for Health Service Administration students. The healthcare industry is often evolving and improving, and a student needs to keep up with new knowledge, skill, and healthcare standards. Support from donors would help my quest to advance knowledge in the health sector and improve the provision of services in the industry. Research comes with other needs such as the purchase or borrowing of some books. Books are expensive and even borrowing for certain periods becomes expensive in the long run. Research also requires technology improvement. For example, having slow or outdated software during research is daunting and slows down the whole process. Sometimes research might call for the purchase of a new laptop and other costly additions such as storage options and software. This increased price would not be an issue with the help of donors. Donations would not only help me buy books but purchase necessary technology or gadgets as needed for the success of research. New knowledge generated from research improves industry practices and the mass majority can benefit from the improved knowledge.

Lastly, tuition is always a worry for students specially with the rising cost of living. Donations would help me pay my tuition on time. The stress of having finance issues often takes away from the wholesome educational experience. Donations would also help reduce my debt burden and help me have less debt to pay off upon the completion of my masters. Therefore, donations not only help me have a healthier mindset for school, but also help me look forward to a better future as a professional who will not have to stress about debts. Paying off my tuition helps my mind concentrate on the educational aspect, which stress often paralyzes. A professional with less debt to pay also has more ample time to improve the health sector and make the industry better for all stakeholders.

In conclusion, donors play a big role in supporting higher learning students. Seeing the impact that donors make in my life, I plan to be a purposeful donor in future to help students like me thrive.
