Ezz El-Din Kattaneh

Hello, I am Ezz El-Din Kattaneh, a first-year medical student at the Arab American University, and a Palestinian from Tulkarm.
My journey began in an environment shaped by the harsh realities of life under occupation. The daily news of new injuries and martyrs, along with the constant challenges imposed by the occupation, have deeply influenced my perspective on life. Growing up in such an environment instilled in me a profound sense of responsibility and a desire to make a difference. This was the main motivation behind my decision to pursue a career in medicine. I chose this path because I want to equip myself with the skills and knowledge necessary to help my people. By becoming a medical professional, I aim to provide much-needed care and support to those who suffer, and to stand with my community in confronting the occupier.
Education, in my view, is the most powerful tool we have to resist oppression and elevate our society. It is also a fundamental aspect of our faith, which urges us to seek knowledge and wisdom. Education is not just a personal journey; it is a communal effort that contributes to the renaissance and progress of nations. However, the current circumstances in our country have made pursuing education increasingly difficult. The ongoing occupation has led to severe disruptions in the economy, including the interruption of employees’ salaries, which has placed a significant financial burden on many families, mine included. These financial hardships make it challenging for students like me to continue our educational journey and achieve our dreams. Despite these challenges, I remain committed to my studies and to my goal of becoming a medical doctor.
My ambition, however, extends beyond just helping my immediate community. I also aspire to contribute to the global fight against diseases. With the rapid emergence of new health threats worldwide, there is an urgent need for research and innovation in the field of medicine. I am deeply interested in the research and discovery of new treatments for existing diseases, as well as in developing preventive measures to combat the emergence of new diseases. My goal is to become a researcher whose work contributes to a deeper understanding of the human body, ultimately leading to breakthroughs that can save lives. I dream of recording my name in history as someone who made a significant impact in the field of medicine and scientific research.
This scholarship represents more than just financial assistance to me; it is an opportunity to continue my education and to bring my dreams closer to reality. It will help me secure the tuition fees for the next semester and may also enable me to enroll in external courses that will enhance my knowledge and skills in medicine and research. Such opportunities are crucial for my development as a future doctor and researcher. I am confident that with the right support, I can achieve my goals and contribute to the betterment of society.
In conclusion, I extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone who supports my education. Your assistance will not only help me personally but will also contribute to the broader goal of advancing medical knowledge and improving healthcare for communities in need.
