Deema Jaber Saidam

With deep appreciation and sincere gratitude for your valuable efforts in supporting and advancing education, I am Deema Jaber Saidam from Gaza, Palestine, where I currently reside. I completed my high school education in 2022 at Muscat Secondary School for Girls, achieving a score of 97.1% in the scientific stream. Subsequently, I enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine at Al-Azhar University – Gaza for the academic year 2022–2023.
Despite the economic and psychological challenges, I faced during my final year of high school, I remained determined and worked hard to achieve my dream of becoming a skilled doctor. My motivation stems from a deep desire to serve the people of Gaza, knowing that it is a land burdened by repeated conflicts and hardships.
After completing high school, I was full of hope that I would receive a university scholarship to study my dream major—Human Medicine. However, I did not receive one, and I lost hope. I decided to pursue engineering instead, as its tuition costs were lower, especially given my extremely difficult financial situation. As the university start date approached, I had almost given up on entering the faculty of my dreams. Then, just one week before classes began, someone who supports my father generously offered to cover my first semester tuition fees.

My dream came true, and I was able to join the Faculty of Human Medicine. I achieved a GPA of 92.8% in my first semester. Since then, the sponsor has continued to pay the minimum required fees, which has allowed me to continue my medical education. I have now completed my first year, including the summer semester. However, because the full tuition fees have not been covered, I am facing significant challenges—one of which is obtaining my official cumulative GPA.
Suddenly, a devastating war broke out in the Gaza Strip, leading to partial destruction of my university and a complete loss of internet access, which caused a full semester interruption in my studies. Later, my university decided to resume education through online learning. I completed my second year during the war and finished the first semester of my third year despite the severe challenges in accessing electricity, clean water, internet, and even basic needs like printing study materials. During the war, I also chose to volunteer and train at medical points to support and assist my people in Gaza.
In conclusion, I humbly ask for your support in helping me achieve my dream of becoming a doctor so that I can serve the people of Gaza. Your support in building my future is, in essence, support for the land of Palestine—especially the Gaza Strip. Thank you for your time and consideration.
