Nour Ahmad Mazen Nasasra

Hello,
My name is Nour Nassarah, and I am a first-year medical student at An-Najah University.
Becoming a doctor has been my dream since childhood. I could never imagine myself as anything other than someone in a white coat, caring for patients and helping them heal. My desire to pursue medicine deepened as I witnessed the devastating effects of the ongoing war around me—the wounded, the dead, the pain that fills each morning.
Despite my passion and belief in my abilities, I continue to face many challenges. My town is subjected to a permanent Israeli military checkpoint, which delays my commute to and from university by hours. There are days when I miss lectures or arrive late to exams, and some nights I return home extremely late after being held at the checkpoint.
Financial hardship remains my greatest obstacle. Medical education is expensive, and my parents work tirelessly to support my education while also providing for my six siblings. The rising cost of living makes it even harder. My family often has to borrow money just to cover basic needs, including school fees and household expenses.
Receiving a scholarship from your esteemed foundation would not only ease this burden but would empower me to continue my education, support my community, and fulfill the dream I have held onto for so long.
What keeps me going, even in the darkest moments, are the tears of pride I see in my father's eyes when he looks at my grades—and the way my little brother Mazen calls me “Dr. Nour.”
