Essa A.M Abumotlak

I am Essa Ashraf Abu Mutlak, a Palestinian medical student from Gaza studying at Mansoura University. Due to the war and the destruction of my brother's store, my family can no longer support my education. I am seeking $1,500 to cover tuition and essential supplies to continue my medical training and pursue my dream of becoming a doctor.

My Story:

I am Essa Ashraf Abu Mutlak, a Palestinian student from Gaza, currently studying Medicine at Mansoura University. At the moment, I am unable to pay the tuition fees and expenses because my family cannot send the money due to the current situation in Gaza. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to pay them even after the war, as my brother’s store, which was covering my expenses, was bombed. He was going to pay for my education on the condition that I would repay him after graduation because my father is unable to afford the expenses. My passion for studying medicine has brought me to Egypt, but the costs keep rising, whether it's living expenses, tuition fees, or even administrative fees at the university.

This year, the university increased the basic tuition by nearly $400. Additionally, they don’t add your name to the attendance list until the fees are paid, which creates a significant hurdle for me, as my brother might not be able to provide the funds in time—if he can even secure them at all. This delay would cause me to miss lectures, which are essential at this stage of my studies, as most of them involve practical work.

Moreover, there are external courses that I need to take, and their prices have also increased. As I enter the practical phase of my studies, I need some medical supplies like a stethoscope, scrubs, and other equipment. I also need a tablet for completing assignments and attending online lectures, as my mobile phone's performance is weak. Additionally, I require surgery to correct a deviated septum, which I have been postponing due to the inability to cover the costs, despite needing it to relieve breathing difficulties.

There has also been an increase in the cost of renewing my residency permit, and during this period, I need to recharge my international phone credit to stay in touch with my family due to frequent internet outages and the constant displacement they face. It’s crucial that I remain in contact with them.

Financial support would allow me to pay my tuition and living expenses, as well as settle the debts, which amount to ten thousand dollars. As I mentioned earlier, I’m studying at my brother’s expense with the promise to repay him later. Support would also help me purchase necessary study materials. Thank you.
