Ahmed M.D. Alsahrif

I grew up in the devastated Gaza Strip, where I witnessed firsthand the destructive impact of conflict on every aspect of life—especially education. Despite the hardship and instability around me, I have always believed in the power of knowledge as a tool for resilience, growth, and change. This belief is what pushed me to pursue academic excellence, even when everything seemed to be against me.

I chose to study Leadership and Strategic Management because I am determined to be a driving force in rebuilding and developing small businesses in post-conflict communities, particularly in Gaza. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Diploma in International Secretarial Studies with an outstanding GPA of 97.4%, graduating first in my college. I pursued these programs in parallel with studying English through the Ministry of Higher Education. Balancing all of this in such difficult circumstances was not easy, but my determination to contribute to my community kept me going.

The challenges I have faced in my educational journey were not only academic but deeply personal as well. Studying in Gaza means dealing with constant electricity outages, limited access to resources, and living under continuous threat. Many nights, I studied by candlelight as explosions echoed outside. Still, I never gave up. My ambition and desire to make a real difference in my community were always stronger than fear or despair.

Receiving financial support for my master’s studies will not only allow me to continue my education abroad but also represent an investment in Gaza’s future. Through this support, I aim to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to rebuilding the local economy through strategic leadership and innovation. I aspire to empower small business owners—especially women and youth—to become more self-reliant. In a place where hope is scarce, education and opportunity are among the most powerful gifts one can offer.

One inspiring experience that continues to drive me forward happened during the latest war. A small group of young men, including myself, created a simple online platform to support one another emotionally and academically. We shared resources, encouraged each other to keep studying, and reminded ourselves that the nightmare would eventually end. That sense of solidarity and shared determination inspired me to think bigger—to imagine how strategic leadership could support not only recovery but sustainable development and peace.

In conclusion, I am not simply applying for a scholarship—I am seeking a chance to become a positive force for change. With your support, I can take my education to the next level and use it to uplift others in one of the most devastated regions in the world. Thank you for believing in students like me, who carry dreams far greater than the boundaries of war.
